St. Saviour - The Brock Memorial Church, Queenston

This one is extra special for me!

I'm excited to share that I'm one of the seven local quilters exhibiting our work at Quilts in the Pews, and Sunny Quilt Creative will also be there with a pop-up shop! 🧵✂️

If you love quilts, local history, and supporting a wonderful cause, mark your calendar for October 2 & 3 and come visit us at St. Saviour - The Brock Memorial Church, located at 12 Princess Street in Queenston, Ontario.

The exhibit will feature 70+ quilts created by the Fabrigettes, a group of seven Niagara-area quiltmakers - and I'm so happy to be one of them! ❤️

I'll also have a Sunny Quilt Creative Pop-Up Shop at the event, so be sure to stop by, say hello, and do a little quilting shopping while you're there.

St. Saviour's is a living monument to Niagara's past. Dedicated in 1879 to honour Major General Sir Isaac Brock, its roots stretch back to the late 18th century and the first worshipping community in Queenston.

Today, this beautiful historic church is badly in need of repairs, and funds raised through Quilts in the Pews will help finance this important restoration work.

You don't need an entire afternoon to make something beautiful. 🧵🤍

Sometimes 20 quiet minutes, a needle and thread, and a few imperfect stitches are exactly what you need.

Sunday is a lovely day to slow things down. A quiet cup of coffee. A favourite quilt nearby. A little Big Stitch Quilting. Or an easy project you can pick up and enjoy without worrying about how much you get finished.

Sometimes the best creative time isn't about tackling the big project. It's threading a needle, choosing a beautiful Perle Cotton, working a few rows of hand quilting, sewing a simple project, or finally playing with those fabrics you've been saving.

In a world that often tells us to hurry, quilting reminds us that beautiful things take time - one piece, one stitch, one moment at a time.

So today, give yourself permission to slow down and enjoy the process. Pull out a small project. Add a few Big Stitches. Try something new. Or simply spend a little time surrounded by fabric and dreaming about what you'll make next.

And remember... not every project needs to be finished today. Sometimes the joy is simply in the making. 🤍
