Documenting Teddy and I when Saturday night actually arrives. 😂
You’re telling me there’s something better than this out there? 🤷♀️🐶🛌
🤍For so long, I thought becoming the “best version” of myself meant changing what I saw in the mirror.
Bleach blonde hair. More makeup. Breast implants. Trying to look a certain way. Trying to fit an idea of what I thought beautiful was supposed to look like. There’s nothing wrong with that version of me. I look back at her with so much love. 🤍
But 12 years later, beauty means something completely different to me. It’s simple. It’s me. The first picture a younger mom of 2, the second picture is me today and now a mom of 3.
I’ve gone back to my natural hair. I know my style, what makeup works, what beauty treatments I love and know work for me. I lift weights. I eat healthier. I move my body because I love feeling strong and taking care of it. One of the most personal parts of that journey was choosing to remove my breast implants.
I’ve shared that experience openly because, for me, taking them out became about so much more than my body. It was another piece of learning that I didn’t need to add something to myself to feel feminine or beautiful. I didn’t meed the discomfort, the pain, the pressure.
But the biggest transformation still isn’t something you can see in a before-and-after picture.
I’ve learned to take care of all aspects of my health. To protect what I allow into my life. To work on what’s happening on the inside instead of putting all of my energy into perfecting the outside.
And I truly believe eventually, the inside starts showing on the outside. There’s something beautiful about becoming healthier and stronger while also becoming softer and kinder toward yourself.
At 43, I’m not trying to recreate myself anymore. I’m taking care of the woman God created me to be. Maybe that’s why I feel more beautiful now than I ever did when I was trying so hard to be beautiful🤍
