A proud moment for tea education in Canada.
Congratulations to the first group of students in Canada who have successfully passed the TCI Elementary Chinese Tea Master Examination!
Behind this achievement are many hours of study, practice, tasting, discussion and, most importantly, the commitment to learning together. From forming study groups to practising tea preparation and reviewing the details of Chinese tea, it has been inspiring to see everyone support and encourage one another along the way.
We’re incredibly proud of what they have accomplished and grateful to be part of their tea journey.
For those who have been thinking about deepening your knowledge of Chinese tea, winter enrollment for the next Elementary Chinese Tea Master course will be opening soon.
We’ll also be offering an online Chinese Tea Prelude Workshop, an introductory session for anyone who’s curious to take a peek into the world of Chinese tea.
More details coming soon. Stay tuned.

Still buzzing from Sunday’s A Midsummer Reverie, the second volume in our seasonal Dialogue Between Tea & Food series.
Guided by Platewithgee culinary vision, this summer’s menu pushed into brighter, bolder territories, challenging us to discover teas that could elevate each dish. And beyond her signature handcrafted cups, claudia n her clay made ceramic art dinnerware also joined the table this time, weaving ceramics, tea, and food into one seamless story.
A huge thank you to everyone who gathered with us, from folks coming in around Vancouver to those from LA and Denver. Your curiosity and presence give these gatherings their soul.
As the seasons turn, the dialogue continues.

We enjoy tea packing.
As the aroma fills the room, we often find ourselves wondering where each tea is headed and how it will be enjoyed. A quiet morning, a meaningful conversation, a moment of pause.
Every package is a connection, and we’re deeply grateful for the support that makes it all possible.
Thank you for making space for tea time with Teakan.

May is always one of our busiest months, and also one of our favourites.
With Asian Heritage Month and Mother’s Day woven throughout the calendar, we were given many opportunities to share tea culture, heritage, and most importantly, meaningful connections.
We began with The Art of Matcha, followed by a Hong Kong Milk Tea Workshop and several Chinese tea workshops with different community groups. Each gathering was unique, but all were connected by the simple act of sharing tea and stories around the table.
In between, we hosted cozy Mother’s Day tea experiences for corporate clients, creating custom tea blends to celebrate the occasion.
We wrapped up the month with our own Culture & Heritage Tea Event inspired by the Song dynasty painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival. Through tea, stories, and customs, we explored how people connected, celebrated, and found joy in everyday life thousand years ago.
Looking back, what stays with us isn’t just the number of events, but the conversations shared, friendships formed, memories revisited, and moments of connection created over a cup of tea.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and invited us into your communities, teams and client celebrations. We are grateful for every opportunity to share the cultures and traditions behind tea, and even more grateful for the people we get to share them with.

Along the way, we’ll uncover the connections between these iconic teas while deepening our understanding of the people, places, and traditions behind every cup.
If you’ve ever wondered how oolong and black tea came to be, this class offers a chance to taste their origins.
