Please don’t buy the lie that you absolutely cannot wash your starter locs for the first month.

Your starter locs still need proper cleansing. Sweat, oil, buildup and dirt don’t suddenly stop existing because you just started your loc journey.

Yes, starter locs can unravel or frizz more easily, especially depending on your hair texture and the installation method.

Yes, your loctician may recommend a specific washing technique or schedule based on your particular install.

But having a general rule of taking clients to not wash their starter locs for an entire month simply because the locs might unravel is not a good advice. Since even tell them not to wash in 12 weeks!

If your starter locs can’t handle appropriate cleansing at all, it may be worth asking questions about the installation method and foundation you were given.

Your locs should be cared for, not kept dirty just to protect an installation.

Don’t buy the lie. Learn how your locs actually need to be cared for.
