Good morning friends !! It's time to rally together and support Alaina's summer camp adventure at Camp Jean Nelson, a truly empowering experience for diabetic kids and teens across Alberta.

Located in the breathtaking Water Valley, Alberta, this camp is a haven where children can thrive and grow. Camp Jean Nelson is nestled in the stunning Rocky Mountain Foothills, just outside of Water Valley. Camp Kindle offers 160 acres of rolling hills, forest and waterways, along with all the modern amenities you need for the perfect camp experience.

Last year, despite the challenges posed by wildfires in the area, the kids had an incredible time, and this year promises to be just as unforgettable. This camp is more than just a fun experience - it's an opportunity for kids to connect with others who share similar experiences, learn valuable skills in self-management, and develop confidence, self-esteem and resiliency.

We'll be creating and selling bracelets in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. Thanks for your unwavering support.

It's likely that the DSM will be overhauled in time, but we're stuck with it for now. What we don't have to wait to do is pathologize stress responses and saddle children with programs that consequence and reward these protective behaviors. We can support the neuroception of safety, which renders the stress response unnecessary. This is one of the main premises in the Beyond behaviors framework.

Alaina and I will be beading more in the coming weeks to fundraise for diabetic camp at Camp Jean Nelson this summer! Last week marked her 9th year as a T1D and she’s excited to attend her second year of camp and meet up with other girls her age from around Alberta to create some amazing memories and spend time with others that relate to her on many levels her other friends cannot.

This is absolutely amazing! This group of determined moms set out to raise $300,000 to build a splash park and we have now exceeded our goal in one year! Thank you to all of the volunteers and to everyone who has donated. We appreciate this community so much!! Stay tuned for exciting steps forward in building this park!
