Couples: are you more likely to select a wedding vendor if someone you know recommends them to you?

I was delighted to return to the stunning Toronto Hunt Club this spring to marry G + P in the sweetest ceremony overlooking Lake Ontario.

I am always SO grateful when couples I have married in the past refer me to their friends; this is exactly how G + P found me.

Nobody wants rain on their wedding day.
But, as all of us in the wedding industry know, 2026 has been "the season of rain".

May 23 was a chilly day, with near-torrential rain at times. This STUNNING photo of Tori and David was taken that very day.

They were married at The CAPE in Picton, where details are always professionally handled; their number one priority as a venue is ensuring that the people they are hosting have the best experience possible, even when Mother Nature has other plans.

The first thing I see when I look at this photo is the elegant presence of Tori and David and their loved ones surrounding them; their style and poise are ICONIC.

You have to look carefully, but if you do, you can see drops of rain on the outside of the tent walls, and some water on the floor where it has run in from the outside as the ceremony takes place.

To make this picture-perfect rain plan happen, the staff at the CAPE and the wedding planners of Country Road Events had to make some difficult, experience-based decisions and then implement them in a very efficient manner.

They expertly moved chairs and florals, setting up the ceremony space inside the tent.

When the processional commenced, the CAPE staff escorted each member of the wedding party from the mansion to the tent under stylish umbrellas, ensuring that each person arrived at the altar in tip-top condition.

They smiled, and executed all of this with warmth, genuine hospitality; guest comfort is always their number one priority.

Because this rain plan was implemented effectively BEFORE the ceremony, Tori and David's loved ones remained dry and comfortable, which meant they were able to truly enjoy the party that followed; AMZING VIBES when Party On DJ is in the house!

I am so privileged to work with seasoned professionals who haven't forgotten that true hospitality is always guest centred and never compromises.

Some lovely words from Savannah and John about Bob's officiating of their wedding on September 4, 2026...

"You were exactly the perfect balance of light/uplifting, without trying to be the center of attention. You also had great communication, were flexible with your availability and brought a great energy and demeanour!"

Thank you, M & S, for trusting me with your ceremony and for your lovely Google review ❤️

“Karin was an absolute joy to work with for our wedding day! She was prompt in responding to our questions and made us feel confident going into the day. Everyone complimented how well the ceremony flowed and we couldn’t have been happier with having Karin officiate our wedding.”

Signing The Paperwork ✍️

“When should we sign the marriage license?” is one of the most common questions couples ask me.

Typically, the marriage license is signed as part of the ceremony.

But more and more couples are choosing to sign it privately; all we need is the couple, their two witnesses and the officiant.

✍️ Signing Before:
If the couple is planning to see each other before the ceremony, signing before can be a great way to “get the legal part out of the way”.

This is exactly what M + S decided to do last weekend and this photo clearly demonstrates what a joyful option this can be!

Another “before” option could be a breakfast signing… the officiant comes in the morning before the couple starts to get ready and signs the paperwork with them and their witnesses then.

✍️ Signing After:
Sometimes couples will choose to sign immediately after the ceremony (before the celebration begins… don’t forget that we are signing a legal document so everyone needs to be sober!)

The “signing after” version can be a brilliant way to build a private moment for the couple into an otherwise jam-packed timeline; they can sign, take a breath, ground themselves in the moment, maybe have a glass of water or ch*****ne (or both!) and a nibble before heading out to greet their loved ones and celebrate together.

Our officiants will work with you to determine when the signing will work best for you.
