Any Perfectionists out there? Hello? Are you there? Every time your inner critic's voice is heard, it has the same physiological affect as chronic pain. Is that voice going all the time? Then - it is like a chronic pain distress signal to your brain. Not a perfect scenario!!!
Perfectionists aren't born: They are grown. They are made.
It is not a personality trait. It is a reaction to a specific set of circumstances that created the need for perfect.
Perfection gets in the way of excellence. It gets in the way of creativity. Of risk-taking. Of just getting starrted.
So - just take the imperfect step and start acting on that feeling of what you want to do with and in your life. That sounds easy. It is not but it is doeable and perfect is not.
Hmmmm.

So much crazy going on with me....maybe illness really is my teacher. Newest thing - an MCAS "picture" that has been going on for a number of years but of late (last 6 months) crazy skin stuff became a big deal.
I did the FIT 22 test and found 5 foods that my body has an immune response to. I haven't had these for 6 days and my skin has completely cleared.
Sad news - one of them is coffee. COFFEE!!!!

Suspicious that your thyroid is underperforming (or less likely - overperforming)?
Your doctor will likely test your TSH and tell you that everything is fine. That is your Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. It is produced by the pituitary gland to stimulate the thyroid. OK. Great start but you have't even really tested the performance of the actual thyroid.
A full thyroid panel — not just TSH, but Free T3, Free
T4, Reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies — shows whether the
body is actually using thyroid hormone or blocking it.
These
are not exotic tests. They are precise, well-validated tools
that provide a level of diagnostic clarity that standard labs
simply cannot match. And they are the starting point for
building a protocol that actually addresses what is wrong.
Just sayin'

Considering mold might be part of what is stalling out your vitality?
What happens when your body stays stuck in survival mode.
Mold can affect your energy, sleep, stress response, and nervous system in ways that make it difficult for your body to ever fully settle. It can activate your mast cells and cause numerous issues including skin responses of hives, eczema, psoriasis and more.
You may feel exhausted but wired.
Tired all day but unable to sleep deeply.
Reactive to foods, supplements, light, noise, smells, or stress.

Here I go again with Nervous System Regulation and Brain Retraining. I have found out that I can rebound back to where I started if I don't keep up with some sort of a daily (and ideally - a structured) program.
So much to attend to and things can slip. As an example: time outside during forest fire smoke is not what it would look like without the smoke. I just got lazy and spent a great deal of time watching TV.......in bed!!!
To get energy, one must move.
I also find that watching a lot of TV as a default, dims the mind, diminishes joy and makes the body weak......so I think I better get out of this bed and do something!
Now!

Nearly every patient who arrives at my clinic, no matter their diagnosis, is battling the same hidden adversary. The labels they have been given by well-meaning practitioners may differ; mold illness (CIRS), mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), Lyme disease, long COVID, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, and the list goes on, but underneath all of them, at the cellular level, is a protective, defensive metabolic shutdown that has outlived the threat that set it off. Dr. B. Hoffman
The Cell Danger Response is not a diagnosis, but it is the fundamental cellular response underlying most chronic conditions, and understanding it is what makes healing them possible.
“All diseases have at their root origin a “stuck” cell danger response” – Robert Naviaux
I have been working on the research and implementation of this for about 4 years: having been diagnosed with most of the above in 2021.
Calming down the limbic system and autonomic nervous system is the background to healing.......and it takes time.....and it takes commitment. But it is the soundtrack to the whole movie of healing.

Here's something I love....not mine....it came from Nick Ortner.
Have you ever noticed Winnie the Pooh never spirals?
Something goes wrong. The honey's gone, it's raining again, Eeyore's lost his tail. And the worst he musters is a soft "oh, bother." Then he carries on. Present, unhurried, completely himself.
Most of us don't meet a bad moment like that. We meet it with a racing mind, a tight chest, and a running list of everything that could go wrong next.
Here's the thing I keep coming back to. That easy way Pooh moves through a hard day? That's a regulated nervous system. His alarm just isn't blaring over a rainy afternoon.
And calm like that isn't a personality you're either born with or not. It's something you build, a few minutes at a time.
Thanks Nick.
OK - friends - breathwork, tapping, yoga, pattern interupt, eye yoga, etc. It is all free!!

Up and Down.....Crash State and
Healing State.
If you drew 2 circles the size you imagine the Crash State and Healing State to be, it could give you some insighht.
Today, on my page, The Crash State Circle was huge and The Healing State Circle was tiny.
So much work. And it can happen quickly to make the shift or it can take so much time it is discouraging cause you are down and discouraged and life isn't that much fun!
The important message here I think is that the size of the circles CAN shift with the right tools. And the more you work with the tools, the faster the shift can happen.
Nervous System Regulation
Eye Exercises
Vagal Toning
Healthy lifestyle choices (And frankly, I didn't have the energy to make many of those!)
Riding this wave (known as the polyvagal wave) is not easy. It is not fair. It is not fun.
But - it is required to make progress.

Today I am thinking about how social media is robbing us of valuable time - yes - even this post you are currently reading (yes - I do see the irony).
So, if a post does not entertain you, educate you, make you laugh, give you information you are interested in or make you feel good about your life - just shut it down.
See ya'
Have a great long weekend.

Well - still gluten!! And Wheat!
Ha! I have to comment on my post below. No wonder we simply don't know which way to turn when it comes to food.
I was watching an episode in a summit yesterday.
Dr. William Davis (author of 2011 best seller Wheat Belly) claims that modern wheat (not all gluten just to be clear - but modern wheat) is "the world's most destructive dietary ingredient". He argues that cross breeding has created a grain that negatively affects blood cholesterol, blood sugar and overall weight".
Dr. David Perlmutter (neurologist and author of Grain Brain) heavily targets both wheat and all gluten as triggers for inflammation and neurological disorders and states that all people struggle to digest it. 100% of people.
They may not have GI symptoms but stuggles with wheat/gluten will show up in other areas such as joint pain, respiratory issues, autoimmune conditions.
John Duillard (Ayuervedic Doctor of note) claims that wheat is a great fall and winter food!
And it goes on .....so good luck with it all. Obviously they would all agree that should you decide to eat wheat - go organic OR at least glyphosate free. And then this falls into availability and budgetary issues for many people.
Wheat feeds billions of people. So does rice, soy and corn. These are all under fire as unhealthy foods. Many say that organic soy is a great food. Some countries have banned all soy products in baby formula.......One "expert" in the healthworld stated that white rice is better for you than brown rice stating that all brown rice is extremely hard on digestion for a number of reasons. It wasn't stated that white rice is nutritious - just easier to digest.
And corn! I guess none of us can digest it hence the transit time test of eating a cup of corn and then seeing when it shows up in the toilet undigested. Whatever that time frame is would be your transit time - the time it takes for food to get from tongue to tail. Some countries only feed corn to livestock.
Doctors and allergists are all over the map when it comes to food allergy and sensitivity testing - one Calgary allergist told me it was all a hoax. Some say blood testing is best - others say DNA testing is best and they all cost a lot of money or you may be covered but have to wait 18 months to see a specialist.
Who the hell knows!? And some people are simply struggling to get food. Period! And that is just tragic.
Do your best is all I've got in the end and eat what feels good in your body and brain. Pay attention. And that's not easy either.
