🌿 What if the thing that needs to change isn't you—but your perspective?
In our newest Facing Dementia conversation, Laurin Wittig and I started by talking about what happens when the funk hits.
But as our conversation unfolded, we discovered something much bigger:
✨ Perspective sits at the seat of change.
Laurin had become tired of doing activities simply because they were supposed to be "good for my brain." Instead, she began choosing movement she genuinely enjoyed.
🏓 Pickleball
💃 Line dancing
Those choices offered multidimensional movement, coordination, changing patterns and new challenges—but they also brought something incredibly important:
JOY.
And from movement, other doors began opening.
🎹 Playing the piano.
✍️ Returning to writing.
🌳 Reconnecting with nature.
💡 Seeing possibilities differently.
While working on her next book, Laurin even discovered that her characters were in the wrong relationships! When she stopped forcing the story, rearranged the relationships and changed her perspective, the story opened again.
What a wonderful metaphor for wellness.
Sometimes we don't need to try harder to "fix" something.
We may need another viewpoint.
In my new Greenwell Center blog, I explore this idea through BioEnergetic Wellness and share ways our Tai Chi Skill Building and Movement and Music On Demand programs use movement, music, intention and awareness to create opportunities for discovery.
🍵 We also explore how the intentions accompanying our Cape Breton Tea Company blends can turn an everyday cup of tea into a moment to reconnect with the direction we want our day to take.
Our Episode 10 tea, Butterscotch Delight, offers the perfect affirmation:
"May my spirit be deeply comforted, my heart gently opened, and my days rich with connection."
Perhaps your wellness question this week doesn't need to be:
"What should I be doing?"
Try asking:
💚 "What do I genuinely look forward to?"
Then become curious about where the answer leads.
And stay tuned! 🎙️
In our next episode, we're reversing the microphones. Laurin returns to her podcast-host role and interviews me about a fascinating question that emerged from this conversation:
Can our wellness practices actually become a source of pressure?
I think we're going to have a lot to explore!

One of the most powerful wellness resources you have is already with you every day:
your ability to notice how you move.
How easily do you turn your head?
How does your body respond when you reach, bend, walk or change direction?
What changes when you bring awareness and intention to a movement?
The Movement Mastery Program helps you develop the skills to become curious about these everyday cues.
Module 1 is designed for self-learning, so you can explore the material through your own movement experiences and begin building practical movement literacy for daily self-care.
You don't have to wait until something feels wrong to pay attention to your body.
Movement awareness can become a proactive wellness practice — something you explore, develop and use throughout your life.
And if you want to take your learning further, MMP offers three levels of academic opportunity.
Movement is something you already do every day.
Imagine what becomes possible when you learn how to listen to it.

What if you stopped worrying about looking good and gave yourself permission to simply be a beginner? ✨
Learning something new can feel uncomfortable—especially when everyone around you seems more experienced. But what if not knowing isn’t a weakness, but an invitation to keep showing up?
In this clip from Be Well with Dr. Michelle Greenwell, Kristen Mangione, The Dance Alchemist, shares a powerful lesson from kickboxing: staying with the process, accepting awkwardness, and allowing repetition and time to turn unfamiliar movements into something more natural.
And there’s another important piece: creating spaces where people feel safe to learn, make mistakes, ask questions, and be beginners without judgment. 💛
Whether you're starting a new practice, learning a skill, changing direction, or simply stepping into something unfamiliar—your beginner status is valid.
You don't have to know what you're doing yet. You just have to keep showing up.

Before We Begin to Move: The Science Behind Tai Chi Skill Building - Greenwell Center for Holistic Health What happens before a Tai Chi class can be as meaningful as the movements themselves. Explore how Tai Chi practice, nature imagery, future-facing reflection, and intentional goal setting create the conditions for calm, clarity, learning, and personal discovery in the Tai Chi Skill Building program.
Stop limiting yourself with a single lens. 👀
Frameworks, expertise, and professional knowledge can be incredibly valuable—but what happens when we give them so much authority that they begin to shape what we’re able to see?
In this clip from Be Well with Dr. Michelle Greenwell, Michelle and writer & conceptual artist Mark A. Michaels explore how preconceived ideas and unconscious biases can influence our perceptions, decisions, relationships, and even the healing process.
Sometimes, the lens we bring into a conversation isn’t as clear as we think. A previous interaction, assumption, diagnosis, or established framework can quietly shape the way we interpret what comes next.
What if we became more curious about our own lens—and stayed open to seeing beyond a single perspective?
✨ Expertise can offer a framework. It doesn’t have to define the entire reality.

What if the future we’re building is also building us?
That question from dancer and artist Kristen Mangione stopped me in my tracks.
Kristen recently returned to work she created six years ago and discovered that it wasn’t simply a message from her past. Somehow, it had something new to say to the person she is today.
It made me wonder…
✨ What have we created that might be waiting for us to return?
✨ What can we perceive today that we couldn't recognize then?
✨ What happens when the clock becomes irrelevant and we become completely absorbed in movement, art, nature, music, or conversation?
✨ And can changing the way we experience time, space, and movement open possibilities for a future we haven't imagined yet?
These questions became the heart of my newest conversation with Kristen on Be Well with Dr. Michelle Greenwell — and my newest blog exploring messages across time and space.
Our CommuniTEA companion is GenerosiTEA:
“Open your heart to hope and optimism, for your resilience and pure generosity inspires others.”
With currant and apple, we explore resilience, nourishment, possibility, and the seeds of what might already be waiting to emerge.
Perhaps we don't always need to create a completely new future.
Perhaps we need enough awareness to recognize the possibilities already unfolding around us.
🌿 Read the new blog and join us for the podcast.
And if you would like to experience these ideas through movement, our special Tai Chi Skill Building series is exploring time, space, movement, music, art, and awareness in a whole new way. We still have nine classes to explore, plus the recordings and rich supplemental materials from our first three classes.
What might your future already be inviting you to notice?
What if one course could begin as personal exploration — and open the door to deeper professional and academic learning?
The Movement Mastery Program has been designed with three levels of learning opportunity, so your experience can grow with you.
You may begin because you want to understand your own movement better.
You may be a wellness professional looking for new ways to support observation, awareness and self-care.
Or you may be interested in continuing education and a more formal academic pathway.
At the heart of every level is the same important skill:
movement literacy.
MMP invites you to become an active participant in noticing, exploring and understanding your movement rather than simply following instructions about what your body should do.
This is education you can use in everyday life — walking, working, exercising, performing, travelling, aging, creating and caring for yourself.
Start with Module 1 through self-learning and discover where your curiosity might take you.
