Creating a clean, safe and professional space has been a huge part of getting Hangar 40 ready to open its doors — and I’m so excited to be one step closer to welcoming you into the studio.

The short answer? **Whatever you're comfortable in!**

That said, loose, comfortable clothing is a great choice — especially if you're having a larger or more sensitive area waxed. Your skin may be a little tender afterwards, and tight clothing can create unnecessary friction.

Wondering what you'll actually need to take off during your appointment? **Don't stress about it.** Once you're here, I'll explain exactly what needs to be removed or adjusted for the service you're having, and you'll have privacy to get ready.

No guessing. No awkward standing around wondering what you're supposed to do. 😂

✈️ **OPERATION: DITCH THE RAZOR**

Thinking about making the switch from shaving to waxing? You absolutely can — just know that your first wax is the **beginning of the process**, not the finish line!

When you've been shaving regularly, your hairs are all in different stages of their growth cycle. That means your first wax may not leave you feeling quite as perfectly smooth as you expected — and **that's normal**.

You may still feel a little bit of “prickle” from hairs that were just below the surface and weren't ready to be removed yet. With consistent waxing, we can gradually get more of those hairs working on the same schedule. After a few appointments, you should start staying smoother for longer. ✨

The most important rule?

🚫 **Don't shave between appointments!**

Every time you reach for that razor, you're interrupting the process we're working on. Stick with it, trust the process, and we'll work together toward getting you onto a regular waxing schedule.

✈️ **WAXING 101: HOW LONG SHOULD YOUR HAIR BE?**

One of the most common questions I get is: **“Is my hair long enough to wax?”**

An easy way to remember it?
🍚 **Think about the length of a grain of rice.**

Your hair needs to be long enough for the wax to properly grab onto it and remove it from the root. If it’s too short, the wax may not be able to catch everything.

And please don’t worry about showing up with “too much” hair. You do **not** need to trim or tidy things up for me first. That’s my job. 😉

✈️ **WHY HANGAR 40?**

It’s more than just a name.

Hangar 40 was inspired by my love of military history, particularly WWI and WWII, and the aviation history that came with those eras.

As a military spouse, military life has also been a big part of my own story. When it came time to create this studio, I wanted it to feel like *me* — not just another typical esthetics space.

So I combined my love of aviation and military history with more than 17 years of experience in esthetics, and **Hangar 40 Waxing Studio** was born. ✈️

The goal is simple: professional waxing in a private, relaxed space where you can feel comfortable, have a laugh, and never feel embarrassed or awkward about the service you’re coming in for.

Because waxing really doesn’t need to be awkward. 😉

Hi! I’m Candice, the face behind Hangar 40 Waxing Studio.

I’ve been working in the esthetics industry for over 17 years, and after previously running my own home-based spa, I’m so excited to be getting back behind the wax pot here in Edmonton!

As a military spouse, I know what it’s like to pack up, move, start over and rebuild — sometimes more than once. Hangar 40 is my newest chapter, combining my years of experience with my love of military history and creating a space where waxing feels comfortable, relaxed and, most importantly, not awkward.

I can’t wait to welcome you into the studio. ✈️
