Speaking facts! Really, take a closer look at the care and well being of your horse! Also side note, alfalfa should NOT be more than 20% of your horse's diet. The remaining 80% should be grass or grass hay.

Willow.
When I started to take photos of her feet was after quite a few trims so what we started with was worse than what they are picture here. Her heels were very under run, atrophied frog, long toes, bunched up bar, as well as a very uneven hairline that looked like a "V" from viewing from the front.
This is couple days ago. Her heels are growing straight down, the frog is getting more vitality, toes are coming back very nicely, as well as an even hairline!
It takes time but it is so nice to see!

PSA Horse owners!

Now that we are coming into fall and it’s been a tad dry for a bit. I’m guessing grass may be getting low for some folks depending on their pasture situations.

If you are transitioning your horses to hay specifically hay feeders, netted bales or basically a feed spot where the horses getting minimal movement please make sure to still exercise your horses!

Even just hand walking them briskly once a day for 20 minutes.

Some of the benefits-
Increased circulation for proper digestion, respiratory health, muscles and hoof health.
Help easy keepers with weight management.
Reduce health risks (colic, choke, laminitis).
Promotes longevity.
Great bonding exercise.
And much more!

Special side note!
If you have your horse on a bale feeder with no net or a net with big holes(can get their muzzle into the bale)please invest in a net or a new net.
Horses can easily develop respiratory illnesses such as heaves and many more irreversible diseases.

To help promote movement some things you can do is feed your horses as far away from their water source as possible. Water at the gate? Put your feeder or feed at the far end of the pasture. Same with salt/mineral. Create a triangle with all three using the space in your pasture.

Let’s hope for a mild winter my fellow Albertans!

Picture of Cody with the zoomies. Goofball! 🤣

A few hopes and dreams I have for this lifetime in the sense of all horses well being. Just felt like speaking my truth.

1. Prioritize balanced & regular hoof care before starting under saddle/restarting/conditioning and just keeping them on a maximum 6 week cycle.

2. Prioritize saddle fit for first time saddling and just in general.

3. Prioritize dental care as one of the main parts of your check list.

4. Grains are eradicated from horses diets.

5. Bodywork is seen as a valuable part of any horses care.

6. One chiropractor adjustment is not a cure all. Takes all of the above.

7. Walk, walk, walk your horses. Not just under saddle. Take them on walks like you would a dog. Helps with more than you can imagine.

8. Invest in your equine education constantly. Learn, practice, retain and repeat.

Thank you for reading! Stepping down from my soapbox now. There is much more but I’ll start with these.

Feel free to share your thoughts and truths. This is a safe space for everyone. We are all here to learn and be better!

🙌♥️😁

"I joined them for 2 camps. It was a wonderful experience. So much learning. But in a relaxed, fun and supportive environment. I made new friends, enjoyed good food and was able to understand my horses needs better. I will go back as soon as my schedule allows.
I'll give this 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 anytime." - Andrea

"The best thing I ever did for myself. Anyone no matter what skill level will love this camp." - Helen

"Anyone who has a horse should do this crash course on horses 101. I have been to a few of their camps throughout the years and can say for 100% DO IT!" - Hannah

Willow. July 15. Her feet are super soft even just scraping with the wire brush it was exfoliating. Her feet are becoming less contracted as the trims go. As well as she is moving much better in the field. Again the sun in my eyes on some of the photos made it difficult to see what I captured at the time. I will learn to take better photos in the future. I hope.
