This book is for the woman who looks like she has it all together.

The capable one.

The dependable one.

The woman people call when something needs to be handled.

She gets things done.

She figures things out.

She keeps going.

And because she's so good at being strong, people don't always think to ask...

“But how are YOU doing?”

Sometimes they don't need to.

Because even if they did, she'd probably smile and say...

“I'm fine.”

I know this woman.

I've been this woman.

And I wrote The Unburdened Woman for her.

For the woman who doesn't necessarily need someone to rescue her.

She needs permission to stop believing everything is hers to carry.

To understand why she became so self-reliant.

Why saying no can bring guilt.

Why other people's emotions can feel like her responsibility.

Why asking for help can sometimes feel harder than simply doing it herself.

And most importantly, how she can begin changing those patterns without losing the strength, compassion and independence that are genuinely part of who she is.

If you're reading this thinking...

“That's me.”

Then yes.

I wrote this for you. 💜

Here's a question that can be surprisingly difficult to answer:

Who are you when nobody needs anything from you?

Not someone's mother.

Partner.

Daughter.

Friend.

Employee.

Caregiver.

Problem-solver.

Peacekeeper.

The person who remembers everything, organizes everything and somehow makes sure everyone else is okay.

Just...

you.

What do you enjoy?

What do you want?

What makes you feel alive?

What do you need more of?

What have you been putting off?

What would you choose if nobody else's opinion had to be considered?

For women who have spent years defining themselves through what they do for other people, those questions can feel strangely uncomfortable.

Because somewhere along the way...

being needed can become part of our identity.

And when we begin putting down some of those responsibilities, there's sometimes an unexpected question waiting underneath:

If I'm not taking care of everyone else... who am I?

That's one of the reasons becoming unburdened isn't simply about learning to say no.

It's also about remembering the woman underneath all of the roles.

She's still there.

And maybe it's time to get to know her again. 💜

So here's your Friday-night question:

What's something that's completely YOU — something you love simply because you love it?

One of the reasons boundaries can feel so uncomfortable is that many of us learned to interpret them as rejection.

If I say no, I'm letting someone down.

If I don't help, I'm selfish.

If I tell someone their behaviour isn't okay, I might hurt them.

If I stop doing something I've always done, they'll think I've changed.

And you know what?

They might.

Because when you've spent years being endlessly available, accommodating or responsible, a boundary can feel very different to the people who benefited from you not having one.

But their discomfort doesn't automatically mean you've done something wrong.

A boundary isn't:

“I don't care about you.”

Sometimes it's simply:

“I care about me, too.”

And that's an important distinction.

You can be kind and have boundaries.

You can love someone and say no.

You can support someone without taking responsibility for fixing their life.

You can disappoint someone and still be a good person.

And perhaps one of the hardest lessons of all...

Someone else's reaction to your boundary does not determine whether your boundary was appropriate.

💜

If boundaries are something you're learning, which is harder for you:

Saying no — or dealing with how someone reacts when you do?

✨ A HUGE THANK YOU & WARM WELCOME TO HEATHER AMY PARENTEAU! ✨

With an unexpected last-minute change to our retreat plans, I found myself needing to find someone special to lead our yoga experience at The Worthy Journey Women’s Wellness Retreat this weekend.

And I am so grateful that Heather Amy Parenteau of Mudita Yoga stepped up and said YES! 💜

Yoga, meditation and thoughtful movement have been part of Heather’s life for many years, supporting her through motherhood, grief, physical health and the many seasons of life. She followed that passion to become an RYT200 yoga teacher in 2020.

Through Mudita Yoga in Brandon, Heather offers warm, person-centred practices combining traditional yoga with somatic movement. Her philosophy is one I absolutely love:

✨ No competing. No mirrors. No pressure to perform. Just a welcoming space where you can set down the masks, reconnect with yourself and simply be.

Heather’s goal is for you to leave feeling “more like you.”

I can’t think of a more beautiful fit for The Worthy Journey — a weekend about releasing the emotional weight we were never meant to carry, reconnecting with ourselves, and remembering who we are underneath all the roles and expectations.

Heather, thank you for stepping in on such short notice and sharing your time, energy and gifts with us. I’m so happy to welcome you to The Worthy Journey! 💜

Please help me give Heather a warm welcome! 🌿✨

I keep coming back to these words from the first Amazon review of The Unburdened Woman:

“The pages are nutrient dense medicine for the heart and identity. The self-compassion addressed soothes the exhausted soul.”

What a beautiful way to describe what I hoped this book would offer women. 💜

Because underneath so many of the patterns we talk about — the people-pleasing, over-functioning, fixing, staying silent, doing everything ourselves — there can be a woman who has simply been doing the best she knew how to do.

I didn't want to write a book that told her:

You're doing this wrong.

I wanted to write one that helped her understand:

Of course you learned to do this.
It served you once.
And now you get to decide whether you still need it.

There is such a difference between trying to change ourselves because we believe something is wrong with us...

and changing because we've finally learned to meet ourselves with enough compassion to choose differently.

To the reader who wrote these beautiful words — thank you.

Knowing that something I wrote could “soothe the exhausted soul” is something I won't soon forget. 💜

I've been thinking a lot about what it actually means to become unburdened.

It doesn't mean having a life without responsibilities.

It doesn't mean never helping anyone again.

It doesn't mean becoming someone who doesn't care.

And it certainly doesn't mean waking up one morning completely healed, perfectly boundaried and unaffected by anything. 😉

For me, becoming unburdened means something much simpler.

Having a choice.

Helping someone because I want to — not because I'll feel guilty if I don't.

Being strong when strength is needed — without believing I have to be strong every minute of every day.

Saying yes because I mean yes.

And learning that no can be a complete answer too.

Allowing someone I love to be disappointed, frustrated or unhappy without immediately assuming it's my job to fix it.

Recognizing an old pattern when it shows up and being able to say...

“I don't have to do that anymore.”

That's freedom.

Not becoming a different woman.

Becoming a woman who gets to decide what is hers to carry.

💜

I'm curious...

What would feeling a little more unburdened look like in your life?

09/18/2026

There comes a point when you realize...

You don't have to carry something forever simply because you've carried it for a long time.

The responsibility.

The guilt.

The expectations.

The need to keep everyone happy.

The belief that you always have to be the strong one.

The version of you who learned to carry those things wasn't doing anything wrong.

She was doing what she knew how to do.

But today, you get to ask a different question:

Does this still belong in the life I'm creating now?

You don't have to put everything down at once.

Sometimes becoming unburdened begins with simply recognizing that you have a choice.

A choice about what stays.

A choice about what goes.

And a choice about what comes with you into the next chapter of your life.

That is the journey at the heart of The Unburdened Woman. 💜

If you're ready to begin looking at what you've been carrying — and what you may finally be ready to release — I'd love for you to read it.

Have you ever caught yourself doing the same thing AGAIN and thought...

“I know better than this. Why do I keep doing it?”

You know you don't have to say yes.

But “Sure, I can do that” comes out of your mouth before you've even thought about it.

You know someone else's mood isn't your responsibility.

But the minute they're upset, you start wondering what you need to do to make it better.

You know you could ask for help.

But somehow you find yourself doing it alone... again.

Here's something I really want women to understand:

Knowing better and responding differently are not the same thing.

Many of these patterns weren't created through conscious thought.

They were learned through repetition.

At some point, your nervous system connected certain behaviours with something important — safety, belonging, acceptance, avoiding conflict, feeling needed or maintaining connection.

Do that enough times and eventually the response becomes automatic.

That's why simply telling yourself...

Stop people-pleasing.
Set better boundaries.
Ask for help.
Don't worry about what they think.
..can feel incredibly frustrating.

Because you're trying to use logic to change something that has become an automatic response.

The answer isn't to criticize yourself for doing it again.

The first step is noticing it.

That tiny moment when you recognize:

There it is.

There's the pattern.

And in that moment, something important happens.

You have created a pause.

And inside that pause is the opportunity to choose something different.

Not perfectly.

Not every time.

But one response at a time.

That's how a new pattern begins. 💜

What pattern do you catch yourself repeating even though you “know better”?
