Greenwashing is a form of marketing spin in which green PR and green marketing are deceptively used to persuade us that an organization's products, aims and policies are environmentally safe.

Ads by major brands including Innocent Drinks, Hyundai and Shell have been ruled 'greenwashing' by the Advertising Standards Authority 2022.

Its made me realise you cannot believe any advertising campaign and you have to become more aware of where your products are being made and what’s in them. One way of doing this is looking for reputable external verification.

I’m always curious about peoples lives - everything from their beliefs, values, experiences and ideas. This is what makes us connect as we learn to understand one another and these form the foundations of life.

So here’s 5 random facts about me you probably don’t know - I hope by sharing these I allow you to understand a little more about me.

1. My kids are my everything and to me they are extra special - I’ve had 5 rounds of IVF over a 5 year period to have my 2 beautiful children.

2.I’m resilient and always get back on it - My very first day skiing ever, my friend and I had to be rescued off mountain in a skidoo and a snow plough as my now ex husband thought it would be fun to take us on a red run. 🎿

3.Entrepreneurship and empowering women is at the core of my heritage - My maternal Grandmother was herself a female entrepreneur in the 1960’s who set up a business importing motor racing wear from Italy 🇮🇹

4.I can be easily influenced to do daft things - I’ve swam with great whites in South Africa - I felt traumatised 🦈

5.I’m a home bird - I’m a total home bird , love being at home with my family. This became evident when I was 7 years old and decided to slip out of a window and down a drain pipe to escape brownie camp on New Mills, Derbyshire. Dad came to get me and I happily put on my pjs and snuggled down in front of the fire to watch the series “nanny” with a Chinese takeaway 😂

Habits

While I’ve been away I’ve been thinking about my own habits and what I might change.

Habits are essential to our health. They can make or break your chances of achieving and maintaining lifestyle goals for example sticking to an eating plan, exercising regularly along with increasing quality of life and promoting longevity and happiness.

Things that I do everyday that work for me include -

🛌Waking at the same time 0630 and having a quiet cup of coffee made by my husband

🫧Making my skincare a priority both morning and night paying extra attention to my eyes and neck area now I’m approaching 50. I use all my Tropic Skincare products and have a 5 min routine morning and at night

👛Making a plan for the next day - I always choose my outfit the night before, and know what and where I need to be

🚶‍♀️Getting outdoors everyday for a walk or a cycle around the woods at the back of our house and appreciating all the nature around me as we are awash with birds, ducks, pheasants, rabbits 🐇

💤Going to bed the same time each night at 10pm and always having a bath before bed using Dreem Distillery CBD bath drops

📴 I always try and put my devices in another room away from my sleeping area by 2100 hours

I have to confess my eating habits are something I wish to improve and when I get home the carbs and snacking will stop and the champagne will be reduced considerably

What roots you?

Helping others is at the very root of my decision to join Tropic Skincare. This inner feeling of wanting to help others stems from my own childhood - when I put myself in the role of chief care officer of my mum and sister always wanting to protect and make sure they had what they needed.

Fast forward 40 years and the desire to help others burns just the same - and I’ve managed to now re-channel this through tropic.
