As the next spring breeding season has begun, the adult Magpie pairs bonds tighten and parents become less tolerant of older offspring.

Parents actively force the 1-to-2-year-old juveniles out of the home territory so they can raise the new clutch of babies.

Displaced teenagers like this guy, often join nomadic flocks of young birds until they find a mate and claim their own territory.

This teenager has decided to hang out with me for the time being and provide moral support while I build the deck.

In return he gets company and feels like I'm good protection as he came up to the shed despite all the noise from the drills and hid behind me and a handrail post, while a Hawk flew overhead, instead of chasing it off like his older relatives.

Each day we hang out while I build and he baths, sunbakes, sings and warbles the day away. It's nice to have the company and I love how the animals feel at home here as much as I do.

3 years Owner building and it has been a part of my everyday life (a big part!). It feels a bit surreal to think it's coming to an end. Many times it has felt so far away (especially the day after day of hand rendering!) and now it's here, I'm feeling pretty sad about it.

It's true what they say - it's the journey, not the destination.

Mulberry Trees are easy to grow from cuttings..I have taken 2 from this Dwarf Tree but even without those we have so many Mulberries to pick from this tree alone.

It's a morning and afternoon job and the birds drop by and take their fair share in between.

If we can't eat them all each day, we freeze the excess or make jam or compote from them. Between this plant and the native raspberries we are in berry heaven at the moment.
