Not sure what to expect at your appointment? Here’s a simple peek behind the scenes at how we do things at Ruby Leigh Aesthetics — so you feel informed, comfortable, and never rushed.
We’ll start by chatting through your goals, expectations and any concerns. From there, we’ll assess your facial structure and skin condition so we can understand what’s going on and what’s realistic for you.
Next comes the education piece (our favourite part). We’ll talk through the options that may be suitable, what the process involves, potential risks, and what you can realistically expect — with no pressure and no “one size fits all” approach.
If treatment is appropriate and you’re happy to proceed, it’s performed in-clinic by our licensed Registered Nurse. After your appointment, you’ll be given clear and detailed aftercare instructions.
Lastly, we'll book you a follow-up appointment for around 2–4 weeks later (timing can vary depending on the service).
Results vary from person to person.

We get it — it’s tempting to come in with a number in mind. But in a clinical setting, dose isn’t something you ‘pick’ like a menu item.
A safe treatment plan is based on an individual assessment: your anatomy, medical history, goals, and what’s clinically appropriate. That includes discussing risks, realistic expectations, and aftercare, and making sure you feel informed — not pressured.
You’ll always have a say in your goals and your comfort level, but the clinical decision-making (including dosing) needs to be guided by professional judgement and safety standards. Suitability varies, and results vary.

Lip anatomy matters because lips aren’t a “one size fits all” feature — shape, movement, and proportion are different on every face.
When determining any lip treatment plan, a thorough assessment takes into account the
definition and shape, lip height and projection, corners of the mouth (commissures) and how they move when you speak/smile.

This is why consultations matter — understanding anatomy helps guide a personalised, balanced approach, set realistic expectations, and avoid a “trend-based” result. Suitability varies, and results always vary from person to person.

Choosing the right injector isn’t about trends — it’s about safety, qualifications, and informed consent.
Here are a few non‑negotiables to look for before you book:
Are they AHPRA registered? (and are they open about their registration + credentials)
Are they appropriately qualified and trained for the services they provide?
Are they operating legally and within professional standards (clean clinical environment, proper consent, clear policies)?
Do they provide a consultation before any treatment to assess suitability, discuss risks, and set realistic expectations?
Do they offer follow‑up care and clear guidance on what to do if you have concerns?
The right injector won’t dodge these questions — they’ll welcome them. They should be able to explain their approach clearly, without pressure, and help you feel informed every step of the way.

Progesterone is a hormone that typically rises after ovulation (the second half of the cycle) and is often associated with a more “calm” state in the body. During perimenopause, ovulation can become less consistent, which means progesterone can become lower or more variable.

For some women, those shifts may show up as:
waking overnight or too early
lighter, more restless sleep
feeling more “wired” at bedtime

Sleep is multi-factorial (stress, lifestyle, temperature changes, and other health factors can all play a role), so it’s not about self-diagnosing from a post — it’s about noticing patterns and getting the right support.

Let's be real, Hormones play a very important role in our bodies. They effect our sleep, weight, mood, labido, skin and so much more. We often overlook symptoms and 'push through' the discomforts, all because it's 'normal' and a natural part of life. While this is true and no magic potion can make the discomfort disappear, there are ways to manage symptoms and ease discomfort. Checking in on your hormone health can give you a clearer idea of what's going on in your body, meaning you can identify suitable treatments and pinpoint how to manage your symptoms- instead of googling 'will night sweats end me?' at 3am.

Do any of these symptoms resonate, or do you have a symptom you'd like to add? Leave us a comment or tag a friend who can relate.

"Being wide awake at 3am, for no obvious reason is amazing"- said nobody ever.
While sleep changes can be influenced by stress and lifestyle factors- hormone shifts during perimenopause/menopause could also be responsible.

If your sleep has been consistently disrupted, it’s worth chatting with a qualified health professional for personalised support.
