It’s been a hot minute since I have done a diamond shank.
Finally feeling like a human, so behind on work, for now, head down and cut stems like a crazy man.
Hopefully getting to the end of what ever virus I got smashed with. Not much pipe making today, but I did get some shop clean up done.
Stem and texture work on this fine Saturday morning in Australia. It’s pretty peaceful in the shop.

Recently finished commission full bent Gumnut,
Designed to be short and robust for the perfect workshop pipe for a local gunsmith.
With a blast on the ring grain and smooth to highlight the birdseyes.
Freehand shaping. From sketch to blank ready for drilling.
Not sure how many of you this will now reach given my ban for pipe making content but let’s see what happens.

Recently completed bamboo Gumnut. I think the black bamboo and stem really work well together.

A reset morning, cleaning up (a bit) coffee, pipe, updating my to do list.
Following on from the previous reel turning the stem on the lathe, this is the next step, hand cutting the shape from rod to what a pipe stem should look like.
Spent the day with the family yesterday so making up for time with an early shop session for my Monday morning,
It’s been a while since I have done a saddle stem on a Gumnut. And this one looks to be epic.
