Your eyelids need completely different care to the rest of your face 👁️
The skin there is the thinnest on your body, and the edge of your lid is doing a job no other part of your face is doing.

Dr Jacqui explains why it matters and what actually helps, straight from an eye surgeon.

Lash extensions might look great, but as an eye specialist, I don’t recommend them, especially for sensitive or dry eyes. They can contribute to disruption of the tear film, collect debris, make it harder to properly clean your lid margins and the glue itself can be irritating. Sorry lash extension lovers, I’ll take a good mascara any day.

At AUSCRS we stopped for a chat with the amazing Dr Tanya Trinh, who has recently opened her own ophthalmology practice in Sydney, Lumière Vision.

Her whole focus is on eye wellness rather than disease, and the way she describes it, walking in feels like being a guest in her home. She takes care of every patient like family.

If you're in Sydney, make sure you check her out 🤍

The Glam Canes are incredible, and Jo is even more so 👀

As she puts it, accepting living with a cane is one of the hardest things someone with low vision will do.

That doesn't mean it has to be plain. Or clinical. Or something you'd rather people didn't notice.

Match it to the outfit. Make it yours.

showing everyone how it's done.

Quarantine stock sounds dramatic, but it's really just a dented box...

The mascara inside is perfect, we just won't sell anything that doesn't arrive looking the way it should!

So it goes mostly to Jacqui's friends and family instead, and they're doing very well out of it 👀

If you didn't already know, we're making our very first cleanser. Formulated for sensitive eyes, obviously.

We're up to about tester number 75.

Seventy five. That's how many versions it takes when the person signing off is an eye surgeon and the brief is that it has to be safe for the most reactive eyes out there.

Dr Jacqui also has a very doctor approved way to use a cleanser, which Teri is now being taught on camera whether she likes it or not.

It's been a long time coming, but we are so close.

How does a mascara withstand eye drops?

Dr Jacqui breaks it down 👀

Cruelty free gets used as a selling point constantly.

Here's the thing. In Europe, animal testing for cosmetics has been banned since 2009, with the marketing ban following in 2013. In Australia, it's been illegal since 2020.

So when a brand selling here tells you they're cruelty free, they're telling you they follow the law.

We are cruelty free. We just don't think it deserves a badge. It should go without saying.

Rehearsals. Actual choreography. Actual counting of steps.

This is the President of AUSCRS, the Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, learning a dance routine between sessions on cataract surgery.

Dr Jacqui does not do things by halves. If there is a stage, she is on it, and she has practised.

Next video is the full performance, and she is in drag for it. We will say no more.

OKKIYO is Italian. Sort of.

Occhio means eye, and Italy is where our mascara is made. So the name was always going to come from there.

But we spelled it wrong on purpose.

O's and C's look nearly identical to a lot of people with low vision. K's don't. So the C's had to go.

Accessibility isn't just braille on the tube. Sometimes it's the name on the front.

Dr Jacqui explains the whole thing.
