Notice a downward pull at the corners of your mouth that's crept in over time? There's more going on than "just ageing."
Two small muscles, the DAO and the DLI, sit right next to each other and do completely different jobs. Mix them up during treatment and you don't get a subtle result, you get an uneven one.
Swipe to see why this area has almost no room for error, and how we approach it differently.
Noticed this on yourself? Come in for an assessment.
Before you book anything for wrinkles, start with these three things.
Consistent UV protection helps limit further visible sun-related skin change. Support skin hydration and the barrier with an appropriate, consistent routine. Look at lifestyle foundations that influence how skin looks and feels, including sleep, avoiding smoking and overall wellbeing.
These steps do not erase established wrinkles, but they support skin quality and long-term care.
Good aesthetic care does not always begin in the treatment room.
Instagram and TikTok are genuinely good for education, but they can also give you misleading information. Here are two examples we see often.
A client came in wanting to treat her masseters, believing it would lift the lower part of her face. In reality, you're treating a muscle, and getting it wrong can do the opposite of what you want.
Others come in asking about the Nefertiti lift, expecting it to lift the face above the treated area. It's actually about softening the muscles that pull down, not lifting upward.
Two examples, same lesson: online education isn't always accurate for your specific face.
Bring your inspiration to your consultation. We don't mind at all. We'll just make sure what you're picturing is actually the right fit for your anatomy.

Aesthetic consultations come with a lot of assumptions, and we love clearing them up.
Swipe through a few common myths we hear often, and the facts behind them.
Got a myth you've always wondered about? Drop it in the comments and we'll set the record straight.
Aesthetic medicine is not just knowing where to place a product.
Relevant medical history, medications and contraindications need to be considered. Facial anatomy, infection control and complication awareness are central to safe practice. Consent includes discussing limitations, risks and alternatives, not only desired outcomes.
Follow-up and knowing when not to treat are part of clinical care. A trend or requested treatment never replaces professional assessment.
The visible appointment is only one part of the clinical decision-making behind it.
You come in with a concern. We see the anatomy behind it.
Every recommendation starts with your arteries, veins, muscle movement and natural asymmetry, mapped by a registered nurse trained to read them. That's the expertise a real consultation is built on.
Trust starts with someone who understands your face before they ever touch it.
While you see lines and features, Karissa is mapping what sits underneath.
The face contains a complex network of blood vessels beneath the visible surface. Anatomy isn't identical from person to person, so assessment can't be copy and paste. Clinical knowledge informs risk assessment, suitability and treatment planning.
This is why who you choose, and what they understand, matters.
That change around your jawline and neck is not always just loose skin.
The platysma is a thin, broad muscle extending across the neck toward the lower face. Its movement and age-related changes may influence the appearance of the neck and lower face, and skin quality, fat distribution and underlying structure can also contribute.
This is why the face and neck should not always be assessed separately.
When we assess the neck, we are looking at more than the skin you can see.
Your skin is not one flat surface, and not every concern starts in the same layer.
The epidermis is the visible outer layer and a key part of the protective barrier. The dermis contains structures that support skin strength and elasticity. The subcutaneous layer contains fat and connective tissue beneath the skin.
Texture, dryness, laxity and visible lines do not all originate in the same place.
The concern you see on the surface may have more than one layer to it.
Have you noticed your jawline starting to look softer and less defined? It's not all related to weight gain, it's actually part of your anatomy and the aging process.
Even if you've been at a steady weight your whole life, your fat pads will separate and begin to descend over time. That can range from minimal to quite severe, everyone is different.
And it doesn't just come down to treating the jawline. A lot of it has to do with your skin quality, both in the tissues and on the surface, that's your collagen, your elastic, and your structural supports across the whole face, not just the jaw.
Coming in for a consultation is really important so we can assess what's actually contributing to how your jaw is feeling.
A more defined jawline starts with understanding what has changed.
