A Sunday note from Maya

Smell plays such a huge part in our lives.

It's tied to happy memories, sad ones, and everything in between, often without us even realising it. I'd imagine our sense of smell is working away in the background at a level we're rarely conscious of, quietly influencing how something feels to us before we've even thought about it.

At the same time, I've noticed over countless years in the beauty industry that when people first try a product, they'll immediately bring it to their nose. For those without sensitivity, it gets a giggle out of me every time, it's such an automatic, almost instinctive thing to do, even when they are trying a fragrance free product. For those of us with sensitivity, we do it too, but far more hesitantly, checking whether it's safe.

It's made me think, we all need other ways, for everybody, not just those of us with MCS, to see, feel, and experience the beauty of skin and body care, without fragrance ever needing to be part of it.

Your skin and even the parts you cannot see will thank you for it.

Living with MCS costs more than people realise, safety that's only ever temporary, tradeoffs that never really end, years spent navigating a world that wasn't built for this.

I'm not looking for anything today except to say it plainly. That's allowed too.
