Every resident we care for is a living history book, holding chapters of resilience, love, and adventure that often go unspoken. Recently, our facility had the profound honor of welcoming a truly remarkable man who has lived to see a century of change.

While his identity remains private, his journey is too incredible not to share as a tribute to the lives housed within our aged care walls.

🌟 A Glimpse into His Incredible Life: 🌟

🚜 Early Roots: Born on a farm in rural Latvia in 1926, his childhood was shaped by hard work, family, and music. His father taught him a lifelong philosophy: “Always do the job properly... make things of quality.”

🌍 Wartime Upheaval: His youth was interrupted in 1939 by WWII. At 18, he was conscripted, experiencing the harrowing realities of conflict and the deep wish for peace that haunted his generation.

🚢 The Long Journey: Unable to return home post-war, he navigated refugee camps and undertook a grueling sea voyage on The Castel Biyanko, eventually arriving in Sydney Harbour to start anew.

🇦🇺 Building a Legacy: Settling in Adelaide, he spent decades working with his hands—from the wharfs to cabinet making—raised a family with his beloved wife, Rose, and became a pillar of his local church and community.

🕊️ 100 Years of Wisdom: Now, reflecting on a century of life, he shares this beautiful peace:

“Living through these years, it seems life is short... I am content watching the birds out my window, feeling the sun on my shoulder, or the fresh breeze blowing through the room - Knowing I am ok and I am not afraid."
